St Clare’s Comprehensive School Students Represent Sweden at National Model European Council in Dublin

Three Transition Year students from St Clare’s Comprehensive, Manorhamilton, took part in the Model European Council last week at St Kilian’s German School in Dublin. Acting as junior ambassadors, Siun, Ava and Eilish represented Sweden in discussions mirroring real EU decision-making alongside their teacher Ms Cremins.

Students from across Ireland debated EU Commission proposals on Safeguarding Democracy, Immigration and EU Expansion, and Technology and Artificial Intelligence. They followed authentic EU voting procedures, with proposals passing either by unanimity or by qualified majority.

The event gave Siun Keegan, Ava Lavelle and Eilish Smith firsthand insight into how European leaders tackle shared challenges. The school community congratulates the three ambassadors on their impressive work and looks forward to their continued engagement with European and global issues.
