Sarah takes GOLD at the Connacht Schools Combined Event in Athlone in the Minor Girls section.
Sarah pulled off what a dramatic last ditch effort to claim the GOLD in the Minor Girls event for St. Clare’s Comprehensive School Manorhamilton. Going into the last event, Sarah was over 220 points behind the leader, but she pulled off a magnificent 800m coming home over 20 seconds ahead of the leader to win by only 3 points. This was the closed event ever. Despite Sarah carrying a foot and leg injury, competing in her first every high jump, and not at her best at any of the events, she will be delighted with the result and have lots of room for improvement before the All Ireland finals in November.
