Our Transition Year students have been busy completing the LIFT Programme this year. Today they received their certificates and are nowcertified LIFT facilitators. Well done to all!
LIFT’s (Leading Ireland’s Future Together) TY micro-module aims to increase the level of positive leadership in Ireland one young person at a time. Leadership is not limited to a select few, as everyone can be a leader in their own way. It was delivered in class through regular roundtable sessions, which wasled by Ms. Houston this year. A roundtable consists of 3 to 4 students gathered in a classroom setting to learn about and reflect on one theme per week. Each week, one student takes on the role of facilitator, guiding the discussion using a script, while the others actively participate. The facilitator role rotates weekly, ensuring that every student gains experience in both leading and engaging in roundtable discussions. Each session focuses on one of thirteen key leadership values, such as honesty, competence, accountability, empathy, respect and positive attitude. The programme supports participants to develop these leadership attributes and set personal goals on an ongoing basis.
