St. Clare’s delivered a superb all-round performance at the Connacht Schools Cross Country Finals in Galway, with 28 athletes representing the school with three teams and some individuals qualifying for the All-Ireland Finals.
Individual Results
Caoimhe Murphy secured All-Ireland qualification with an excellent 10th place finish.
Emily Flanagan ran strongly to place 26th in a very competitive Junior Girls race.
Junior Boys – 2nd Team
A brilliant team effort earned the Junior Boys 2nd place overall, thanks to strong running from
Jan Gola, Simon McDonald, Conor McGrath, Brion Cullen, Daire McAuley, Owen Reynolds, Liam Fitzpatrick Calvo, and Cian Rooney.
Intermediate Boys – 3rd Team
The Intermediate Boys also qualified, finishing 3rd overall.
Greg Lyons took a commanding individual win, supported by
Pauric Cullen, Tadgh Kirwan, Eoghan Rooney, James Maxwell, Daniel Rooney, and Mark Malaniff.
Senior Boys – Connacht Champions
The Senior Boys closed the day in style, winning the team title.
Lucas Lyons dominated to take 1st place.
Sean Gilmartin (13th) and Sean Brady (15th) both finished inside the individual qualifying positions.
Thomas Gilmartin and Aaron McNulty completed the scoring with strong final laps.
All athletes represented St. Clare’s with pride and determination. Best of luck to our qualifiers at the All-Ireland Finals in Mallusk on March 7th.
