3rd Year Music Tour

3rd Year Music Students travelled to the National Concert Hall in Dublin on Tuesday 5th March to hear the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Brophy.

The concert was built around the Junior Cycle learning outcomes, using orchestral music to explore how music can provoke emotion, change mood and illustrate a scene.

Students were able to see and hear the different sections of the orchestra, performing a wide range of genres, from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5  to John Williams’ Imperial Theme from Star Wars.

The NSO were also joined by Zoe Conway on Fiddle and John McIntyre on guitar to perform two arrangements of Zoe’s traditional tunes for the Orchestra – a real treat for the audience!

Well done to the students for their excellent behaviour and for the lovely singing on the bus on the way home!
