On Monday the 6th of October our U16 and U19 Boy’s Basketball teams travelled to the Grammar School, Sligo to participate in a challenge basketball game. This was the first time a basketball team has represented our school in a number of years and the boys really did our school proud. The u16 team took to the court first and made an impact straight away. Some tenacious rebounding from Owen Fitzpatrick coupled with some very impressive ball handling skills from Sid Santos saw the Manorhamilton side impose their dominance. The game progressed in a ding dong battle of scores with Owen Fitzpatrick eventually getting fouled off early in the final quarter. The Grammar were fortunate to emerge victorious on a scoreline of 50, 41.
Inexperience was obvious when it was time for our u19 team to take the court. Despite some great scores from Jakub Lesniak, Alex Paulek, Karl Venusa and Luuk Akkermans the Grammar side were just too polished and experienced. The game was played in a very positive spirit and the Manor side gave it their all until the final whistle.
