What an incredible day for the athletes of St.Clare’s at the All-Ireland Cross Country Finals in Mallusk. Their hard work over the past few months truly shone through.
Minor Girls – Caoimhe Murphy opened the day with a superb run, finishing 26th in a very competitive field of talented young athletes.
Junior Boys – Our Junior Boys team put in a strong effort, securing 11th place overall. The team was made up of Owen Reynolds, Simon McDonald, Brion Cullen, Conor McGrath, Cian Rooney, Liam Fitzpatrick-Calvo, and Daire McAuley, all of whom represented the school brilliantly.
Intermediate Boys The Intermediate Boys delivered another excellent performance, finishing 9th overall—a brilliant achievement. The team featured Oisín Fee, Eoghan Rooney, Pauric Cullen, Tadhg Kirwan, Daniel Rooney, Mark Malaniff, and James Maxwell, who all ran strongly on the national stage. A special mention goes to Greg Lyons, who finished 10th, securing qualification for the Irish Intermediate Boys National Team. He will now go on to compete against England, Scotland, and Wales in a few weeks’ time.
Senior Boys Rounding off the day, our Senior Boys claimed 8th place in the team standings. Lucas Lyons produced a standout performance at the front of the pack, finishing 5th and earning an All-Ireland medal for placing inside the top six.
We are incredibly proud that our school had the second-highest number of participants of all Connacht schools at the event. This is a testament to the dedication, commitment, and effort our athletes have put in over the past few months.
Looking Ahead, our athletes can now look forward to preparing for the Track and Field athletics qualifiers in April and earn another day out at a national event.
