Music News from St. Clare’s Comprehensive School

Students from 2nd, 4th and 5th Year were treated to a Sound Bath with Kristina Baker Kenny from the Rhythm Room on Wednesday this week.  Kristina arrived to the school with all her instruments and set up in S2 in the aptly named Suaimhneas building!  Thanks to Ms. Hassett for organising, with the support of Ms. O’Gara and the Creative Schools Committee.

Congratulations to LC students Matthew Fitzpatrick and Reuben Rhodes who together with their band Buzzed, launched their single Amber on Spotify.  They are playing at the Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon this weekend, before starting their Leaving Cert on Wednesday!

Well done to the 5th Year Music Class who submitted an entry to the Waltons Music for Schools Competition, with a medley of Tonnta by Amble and I Just Might by Bruno Mars.  The recording included vocals, pianos, guitars, bass guitar, accordion, concertina, bouzouki, djembe, harmonica, tambourine and shakers.  The school were commended for their performance and the students enjoyed working together to prepare and record the performance!

Best wishes to all our students competing in the Fleadh Cheoil this summer, representing their Comhaltas branches.  We look forward to hearing updates from the Connacht Fleadh in Mohill, the Ulster Fleadh in Down and hopefully the All Ireland Fleadh in Belfast!

Well done to our students who performed at the Glens Centre 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner – James McFadden & Caydn Maguire and their band Happy Sunny.  Congratulations to the Glens Centre and thank you for all the opportunities you provide for our students.
